THE PHOTOGRAPHY PROCESS

Photography Sessions with Lindsay Schumaier Photography are about more than just taking great pictures.  I love giving my clients a one-of-a-kind experience- from booking your session to delivering your art and every moment in between.  The Steps below will give you a basic idea of what to expect during your Lindsay Schumaier Photography experience.

1. BOOKING

First, we will work together to find the perfect date for your session. If this is a newborn session we will use your due date for now. Then, I will send you an electronic invoice and session agreement contract.  Once you pay the invoice (retainer fee minimum) and  sign the agreement, you will officially be on my calendar!

2. PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION

Once you are booked, I will send you a questionnaire to help me learn more about your family.  We will also have a pre-session consultation over the phone.  We will discuss all aspects of your session from activities you would like to have captured, to wardrobe recommendations and what time of day the lighting will be best in your home or the location we chose (Newborn sessions are done at the studio), to your vision for your photos after the session, and finally I will answer any other questions you may have about your session.  

3. YOUR SESSION

Welcome To The World

The same goals go for a newborn session!  When you arrive at the studio, we will take about 10-15 minutes to allow you and your kids to become comfortable with me and my camera.  During this time we will take care of any feedings and final clothing decisions. Then we will spend the next few hours having fun together as we document this sweet season of life.  By the end of the session, my goal is that we will feel like old friends, you have had a little rest, enjoyed a snack or three and that you will leave excited about seeing your photos in just a couple of weeks!

Milestones

Milestone sessions are designed to capture a moment in time whether it's a new skill of sitting on their own, capturing those sweet tween years that often go  unphotographed, or entering their senior year of high school.  When you arrive at the studio, we will take about 10-15 minutes to allow you and your kids to become comfortable with me and my camera.  Then we will spend the next 30 minutes to an hour having fun together as we document this moment in time.  It's my goal is that you will leave excited about seeing your photos in just a couple of weeks and that we have captured your child's personality in this moment of time.

City Walk

We will meet at a previously planned location and will start walking as we take about 10 minutes to allow you and your kids to become comfortable with me and my camera.  During this time we will get to know each other and walk to a good starting point. Then we will spend the next hour having fun together as we document your child and family while enjoying your town.  As with all of my sessions, by the end of the session, my goal is that we will feel like old friends and that you will leave excited about seeing your photos in just a couple of weeks!

Fine Art

I have two main goals for every session I photograph- document great memories for my clients and have fun together.  The Fine Art sessions are a time to get dressed up and become a piece of art. These sessions are professionally edited with a fine art high end quality. Fine art portraits are meant to be framed and hung in your home and I am happy to help with your framing and even wall designs in your home.

4. CREATING HEIRLOOMS FROM YOUR IMAGES

About 1.5-2 weeks after your session, your special feature will go up on my blog, which will include a few of my personal favorites from your session.  A few days after that, you will get a link to your online gallery.  After you have had a chance to go through your gallery, you have the option of scheduling an in-home ordering session one night after the kiddos are in bed during which I can answer any questions you may have and help you make your artwork selections or you may order through your gallery.  If you place an album order, I will contact you once the designer has completed first draft, and you will have two rounds of revisions before the album goes to print. If you place a wall art order, I will send you a few options to start the process.

5. DELIVERING YOUR MEMORIES

This is the most exciting part of the process!  We will make a final appointment for me to deliver your beautiful artwork, and you will finally get to hold your sweet memories in your hands (or see them decorating your walls)!
